Fits and Starts
Feb 18, 2021
Progress often occurs in fits and starts.
When pursuing goals, we often expect our progress to be linear. We expect that day-to-day our efforts will be proportionately apparent and obviously cumulative when it comes to the results we can see.
And, when we don't see that happen, we assume that something has gone wrong or that we have been doing it wrong, and we throw in the towel. We either stop altogether or we stop the one approach and replace it with another.
Yet, perhaps, if we had just kept doing what we were doing, if we had just kept going, perhaps it would've turned out that a massive and profound and obvious leap forward was just around the corner, just slightly out of our sight, just one more day away.
When we give up our efforts during those times of 'fits' then we never get to reap the rewards of the 'starts' that eventually follow.
